2016 Star Gazing Dates Pensacola Beach Florida
You don't always need a telescope to enjoy the night sky in Florida but if you want to get up close with the starry Florida sky join the free star gazing event on a Friday or Saturday and will start at sunset at varying times throughout the summer based on daylight. The times listed are approximate. This is a free event that can help polish up your constellation knowledge
The event will have nearly 20 telescopes ranging in strength and size from duplicates of Galileo's original telescope to today's incredible large-scope devices. There will also be binoculars. The telescopes will be set up for the public to take a peek at wonders in our local Pensacola Beach sky, wonders such as Jupiter, the Milky Way and other galaxies can be seen.
For a closer look, video cameras will also be used with some of the telescopes to display images on monitors up to 100 times more clearly than viewing through the telescope with your eye alone. Free charts and sky calendars will be available for those individuals who would like to continue to stargaze on their own.
There will be free parking in the Casino Beach parking lot, near the Beach Ball Water Tower. Visitors with questions can call 850-450-7767 after 4 p.m.
